From Variety.com

Liz Rosenberg, longtime publicity exec at Warner Bros. Records, is ankling to form her own praisery, Liz Rosenberg Media, the label announced Tuesday.

During the course of her 39-year career at the company, Rosenberg was closely associated with Madonna. The superstar vocalist – originally signed in 1983 to Warner's distributed imprint Sire, and later head of her own imprint Maverick – exited the Burbank-based label last year for a 360-degree deal with Live Nation.

As part of an ongoing consultancy with the firm, Rosenberg will continue to rep Madonna, as well as current Warner acts Michael Buble, Cher, Stevie Nicks, David Foster, Charice and Katherine Jenkins.

Warner Bros. Records chief executive officer Tom Whalley said in a statement, "Over the course of her remarkable tenure, Liz Rosenberg's contribution to the company has been immeasurable. We are delighted that as she begins her own enterprise, we will continue our association with her on behalf of several of our key artists."

Madonna to Guest Judge on 'The Marriage Ref'

Posted on Saturday February 20 2010 - 12:34:55  by whoopiedoo  email to someone  printer friendly

From iVillage

Would you take marriage advice from Madonna? One feuding couple will be turning to the Material Girl for help on an upcoming episode of the new NBC reality show The Marriage Ref.

According to Reuters, the former Mrs. Guy Ritchie (2000-2008) and Mrs. Sean Penn (1985-1989) will guest judge on one episode of the show, which premieres March 4 and will enlist celebrity panelists to declare a "winner" in a domestic argument between two real-life spouses. The show is hosted by creator Jerry Seinfeld, and Madonna's co-panelists will be acerbic funnyman Ricky Gervais and Curb Your Enthusiasm's Larry David. Given Her Madgesty's famous bluntness ("Sometimes you have to be a bitch to get things done," she once quipped), we suspect that the couple she "refs" will get more than they bargained for!

The 51-year-old pop icon now has her eyes set on movies as well as TV. Variety reports that she'll be directing a film about a scandalous love affair that rocked the British monarchy in the '30s, possibly starring Up in the Air's Vera Farmiga. Add to that the fact that she just returned from Rio with 23-year-old Brazilian model Jesus Luz, and it seems like romance is everywhere for Madonna these days!

Madonna To Write, Direct A Movie About Forbidden Love

Posted on Saturday February 20 2010 - 12:33:28  by whoopiedoo  email to someone  printer friendly

From MTV.com

Madonna wants to make a movie. The pop superstar will direct "W.E.," a biopic focused on the love affair between King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson, Variety reports. The real-life couple caused quite a stir in 1936, when Edward's decision to marry the American socialite led him to abdicate the British throne.

No casting has been announced yet, but the report reveals that "Up in the Air" star Vera Farmiga is interested in the Simpson role. Madonna, whose acting credits include "A League of Their Own," "Who's That Girl?" and "Swept Away," will write the script with Alec Keshishian, who was her director for the 1991 tour documentary "Madonna: Truth or Dare." There's no word on whether the pop star intends to take a role in the movie as well.

This will be Madonna's second time behind the lens. She previously wrote and directed the 2008 indie "Filth and Wisdom," which premiered that year at the Berlin International Film Festival. The film, which stars Gogol Bordello frontman Eugene Hütz, did not fare well with critics, with a rating of just 28 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Farmiga, who picked up a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination earlier this month for her work in "Up in the Air," will be seen later this year in "Henry's Crime." She'll star alongside Keanu Reeves in the romantic comedy about a man who is wrongfully imprisoned. "W.E." could work out well for her provided the script is strong, but Farmiga's participation would undoubtedly give Madonna's flick a much-needed PR boost.

From E! Online

Madonna's peeps aren't talking, Macy's isn't commenting, yet everybody's buzzing about the possibility that the pop icon may be bringing her unique sense of style to the famed retail giant.

Several sources tell WWD a deal is very close to being signed for the Material Girl to launch a collection that would include everything from clothing and footwear to accessories and lingerie.

Which would make striking a pose that much easier…right?

Vita Coco - Madonna And Other Major Talent On Board As Investors

Posted on Tuesday February 02 2010 - 11:06:12  by whoopiedoo  email to someone  printer friendly

January 31, 2010 – New York, NY – Vita Coco, the nation’s best-selling coconut water and one of the fastest-growing beverage brands in the U.S., today announced a group of several high profile new investors into the five-year old, New York-based beverage company. With a 60% share of the coconut water market and annual revenues more than doubling in 2009 from the previous year, Vita Coco is headed to record sales in 2010 and beyond. It was officially confirmed today by Vita Coco CEO and co-founder Michael Kirban that entertainment manager Guy Oseary and his client Madonna invested in Vita Coco. Oseary also brought on board Matthew McConaughey, Demi Moore and Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis as additional Vita Coco investors.

“This group of investors chose to invest because they’ve all been brand loyalists, drink Vita Coco regularly and believe in the growth potential of the Vita Coco brand,” stated Kirban.

Fresh coconut water, extracted from young green coconuts (not brown ones) has grown increasingly popular as both a lifestyle beverage and a natural sports drink. “Each of these investors not only validates the Vita Coco brand, but the category of natural-functional beverages as well,” added Kirban.

Vita Coco is currently sold at over 14,000 retailers nationwide, including Whole Foods Market, Safeway, Giant Eagle, Ralph’s, Shaw’s, Stop&Shop/Giant, HEB, Hannaford Supermarkets, ACME and Shop Rite, as well as on Amazon.com.

Early next month, Vita Coco will be available for sale in over 1,300 GNC stores nationwide. “GNC’s motto is ‘Live Well,’ and as the leading vitamin, supplement and sports nutrition chain, I can’t think of a finer retail partner as the Vita Coco brand grows nationally,” notes Kirban. “GNC’s product education programs will ensure that new consumers learn about the healthful benefits of Vita Coco.”

Stefano Gabbana Confirms Madonna Has Working Tear Ducts

Posted on Tuesday January 26 2010 - 09:17:44  by whoopiedoo  email to someone  printer friendly

From New York Magazine

Though Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have been chummy with Madonna since 1991, Gabbana admits they shared "a sort of fear" of asking her to "do anything businessy" for them, like appear in an ad campaign. Because they probably didn't want her to hate them for asking — you know, coming off like they were trying to use her — and then not wear their clothes or be their friend, most importantly. Wasting no time in stealing her from Louis Vuitton after two seasons of campaigns for that label, Dolce posed her as an Italian housewife for the spring 2010 ads. In one image she appears to be crying after reading a letter from a loved one. "She was really crying!" Gabbana tells W. "It wasn’t fake!" He doesn't say whether that part where she eats pasta is fake, but explains, "They say there’s a connection between food and sex." Especially when you shoot Madonna's ample bosoms as she's peeling onions.
